Terms of Service
Last updated: 4 September 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Say it in Swedish, operated by North Tone Media Handelsbolag, Sweden (“North Tone Media”, “Say it in Swedish”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By creating an account, you agree to these Terms.
Purchases of paid memberships are additionally subject to the terms applicable to the Merchant of Record as described below.
1. The service
Say it in Swedish is an online Swedish-language learning service providing educational content and learning tools, including lessons, grammar material, vocabulary tools, exercises, audio, written material, progress features, comments and other functionality.
Some parts of the service may be available free of charge. Other content and features require an active paid membership.
The exact content and functionality available may vary between membership levels and may change over time in accordance with these Terms.
2. Accounts and eligibility
An account is required to access membership content and certain other features.
Accounts are personal and may only be used by the person for whom they were created. You may not share your account, login credentials or membership access with another person.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity carried out through your account.
You must provide accurate information when creating and maintaining an account.
Paid memberships may only be purchased by a person who has reached the age of majority and is legally capable of entering into a binding purchase agreement. A parent or legal guardian may purchase access for a minor where permitted by applicable law.
If an account is used in connection with a school, company or other organisation, it remains a single-user account unless North Tone Media has expressly agreed otherwise.
3. Free trial
Eligible users may activate a 7-day free trial of membership features.
The free trial:
- does not require a payment method;
- does not involve checkout through the Merchant of Record;
- does not automatically become a paid subscription;
- does not renew; and
- is limited to one trial per person unless we expressly offer otherwise.
Creating or using multiple accounts in order to obtain additional free trials is prohibited.
At the end of the trial, access to trial-only membership features ends automatically unless the user separately purchases a paid membership.
We may take reasonable measures to identify and prevent trial abuse.
The free trial is separate from any statutory rights that apply to a later paid purchase.
Consumer-law rights concerning digital services may also apply to free services in circumstances where applicable law treats the provision of personal data as consideration.
4. Paid memberships, billing and renewal
Say it in Swedish offers monthly and yearly paid memberships.
The price, billing interval, total charge and features included in a membership are shown before purchase. Where a yearly membership is described using an effective monthly price, the total yearly charge will also be shown.
Paid memberships automatically renew at their applicable billing interval until cancelled.
You may cancel your subscription at any time using the subscription-management facility provided in connection with your purchase.
Unless otherwise stated during checkout or required by applicable law, cancellation prevents the next renewal and paid access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
Subscription billing, renewals and related transaction communications are handled by the Merchant of Record in accordance with its applicable terms and procedures.
If North Tone Media changes the price of an existing membership, the new price will apply no earlier than the next renewal. We will provide advance notice before a changed membership price is charged where required by applicable law. You may cancel the subscription before the new price takes effect.
Taxes, exchange-rate effects or other amounts determined by the Merchant of Record are governed by the applicable purchase terms.
If the Merchant of Record reports that a subscription has expired, been cancelled, refunded, reversed, unpaid or is otherwise no longer active, access to paid membership features will end accordingly.
A good-faith payment dispute or exercise of a statutory consumer right is not itself a violation of these Terms. Fraudulent or abusive payment disputes may constitute misuse of the service.
5. Merchant of Record and purchases
Purchases made through Say it in Swedish are processed using Stripe Managed Payments.
For these transactions, Sold Through Link, LLC, a Stripe affiliate, currently provides the Merchant of Record service.
The Merchant of Record handles the purchase transaction, including payment processing, applicable indirect taxes, billing, receipts and invoices, transaction-level payment support, subscription administration, payment disputes and refund processing.
The purchase transaction is subject to the applicable Stripe, Sold Through Link and buyer terms presented during or in connection with checkout.
North Tone Media remains responsible for operating Say it in Swedish and providing and supporting the educational service and content.
These Terms govern access to and use of Say it in Swedish. The Merchant of Record's purchase terms govern the payment and purchase transaction. If the documents conflict, each set of terms controls the subject matter for which it is responsible, subject always to mandatory law.
The Merchant of Record or payment service used for future purchases or renewals may change. Where this affects an existing subscription, affected users will be informed where required by applicable law.
6. Withdrawal rights, cancellations and refunds
Statutory withdrawal rights
Consumers who are entitled to a statutory withdrawal or cooling-off right retain that right.
For consumers in Sweden and other EU jurisdictions where the corresponding right applies, the statutory withdrawal period is generally 14 days from the date the contract is concluded.
The legally required information about exercising the withdrawal right, including any required withdrawal form or online withdrawal function, will be provided during or in connection with the purchase process.
Where a consumer expressly requests that a digital service begin during the withdrawal period and later exercises the withdrawal right, the consumer may, where permitted by applicable law and where the applicable legal conditions have been satisfied, be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service supplied before withdrawal.
For digital content that is not supplied on a physical medium, applicable law may provide that the withdrawal right ends once supply begins if the consumer has expressly consented to immediate supply and expressly acknowledged the resulting loss of the withdrawal right.
Nothing in these Terms limits a statutory withdrawal right.
Ordinary cancellation
Ordinary cancellation of a subscription prevents future renewal but does not itself constitute exercise of a statutory withdrawal right.
Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.
Refunds
Say it in Swedish does not provide a separate voluntary money-back guarantee.
This does not affect:
- statutory withdrawal rights;
- mandatory consumer rights;
- rights relating to a defective or unavailable digital service; or
- rights available under the Merchant of Record's applicable refund policy.
Refund requests relating to purchase transactions may be processed by the Merchant of Record in accordance with its applicable procedures.
7. Conformity of the digital service and consumer remedies
Where consumer law applies, Say it in Swedish will provide the digital service in conformity with the requirements that apply to it.
If a paid digital service is defective, unavailable or otherwise does not conform to the agreement or mandatory consumer-law requirements, the consumer may have statutory remedies.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, these may include:
- having the defect remedied;
- restoring access to the service;
- a proportionate reduction in price;
- termination of the affected contract;
- repayment of amounts paid for periods in which the service did not conform or for unused prepaid periods following lawful termination; and
- compensation for loss where the requirements for such compensation are satisfied.
Nothing in these Terms limits those mandatory remedies.
Users should contact hej@sayitinswedish.com if they believe the service is defective or does not correspond to what was agreed.
8. Availability, maintenance and changes to the service
We aim to keep Say it in Swedish available and functioning reliably, but temporary interruptions may occur because of maintenance, updates, technical problems, security measures, third-party failures or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may modify content or functionality for valid reasons, including to:
- improve the service or educational material;
- correct errors or outdated information;
- add, replace or improve functionality;
- improve accessibility or usability;
- maintain security or prevent abuse;
- maintain technical compatibility;
- respond to changes in technology or third-party services; or
- comply with legal or regulatory requirements.
Changes to a continuously supplied digital service will not result in an additional charge during an already-paid billing period unless separately agreed.
Where required by applicable law, we will inform users clearly about relevant changes.
If a change negatively affects a consumer's access to or use of a paid digital service by more than an insignificant amount, we will provide the information required by applicable law in a durable form and in reasonable time.
Where applicable law gives the consumer the right to terminate because of such a change, the consumer may exercise that right within the statutory period and receive any repayment required by law.
Under Swedish law, this termination period is generally 30 days from receipt of the relevant information or from implementation of the change, whichever occurs later.
We may discontinue particular features, lessons or content where there is a valid reason to do so. A membership does not guarantee that every individual feature or item of content will remain unchanged indefinitely.
If discontinuation materially affects an active paid membership, mandatory consumer remedies remain available.
9. Permitted use
Say it in Swedish and its content are provided solely for the authorised user's own learning and personal use unless North Tone Media has expressly agreed otherwise.
An individual membership does not permit use of Say it in Swedish content to teach or provide services to other people.
Without our prior written permission, you may not:
- share your account, login credentials or membership access;
- copy, reproduce, republish, redistribute, extract, adapt or make protected content available except as expressly permitted for your own personal learning;
- share downloadable material with third parties;
- display membership content to a classroom, group, audience or customers;
- screen-share paid content for teaching, tutoring, training or other third-party use;
- use our material to prepare or distribute derivative teaching materials, courses or learning resources;
- sell, sublicense, rent or commercially exploit our content;
- scrape, crawl, harvest or systematically extract content or data;
- use bots, scripts or other automated systems to access, copy or collect content without permission;
- circumvent or attempt to circumvent technical protections, access restrictions or membership controls;
- reverse engineer, interfere with or compromise the operation or security of the service;
- use Say it in Swedish content to create, populate, train, improve or support another product, service, database, course, dataset or technological system;
- use Say it in Swedish content for artificial-intelligence or machine-learning purposes, including training, fine-tuning, evaluation, benchmarking, retrieval systems, dataset creation, model development or model improvement;
- assist or encourage another person or entity to do any of the above; or
- otherwise use the service or content for purposes beyond the authorised user's own permitted use.
Where download functionality is expressly provided, the authorised user may retain the downloaded material for their own personal learning after the membership ends normally, unless otherwise stated for the particular download.
If an account is terminated for a serious or material breach of these Terms, we may require the user to delete downloaded copies of protected membership material to the extent permitted by law.
The fact that material can technically be viewed, copied, downloaded or extracted does not grant a right to use it beyond these Terms.
10. Intellectual property and text and data mining
Unless otherwise stated, Say it in Swedish and its original content are owned by or licensed to North Tone Media.
This includes, where applicable:
- lessons and educational texts;
- grammar explanations;
- exercises and original examples;
- audio and recordings;
- videos and graphics;
- software;
- databases and database structures;
- vocabulary systems;
- learning structures and compilations;
- designs and branding; and
- downloadable material.
All applicable copyright, trademark, database and other intellectual-property rights are reserved.
This includes database rights and related rights that may arise from the compilation of substantial amounts of data or substantial investment in creating and maintaining databases.
Your account or membership gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to access and use relevant material for your permitted learning purposes for as long as you are entitled to access it.
No ownership of the service, databases, systems or North Tone Media intellectual property is transferred to the user.
North Tone Media expressly reserves, to the fullest extent permitted by law, all rights relating to automated extraction, text and data mining and use for artificial-intelligence or machine-learning purposes.
Downloaded material remains subject to these Terms after download.
11. Vocabulary, progress data and user-created information
Vocabulary selections, saved-word records, learning histories, progress records, statistics, scores and other records created or generated through the Say it in Swedish learning system form part of the Say it in Swedish service and databases.
North Tone Media owns and controls the underlying database, database structure, analytics systems, software and compilation of those records.
A user's access to vocabulary lists, statistics or progress information does not transfer any proprietary right in the Say it in Swedish database or systems to the user.
While this information can be associated with an identifiable person, it may constitute personal data and will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
When an account is deleted, identifying account information such as the email address, member-visible display name and subscription identifiers will be deleted, disconnected or anonymised as described in our Privacy Policy, except where information must lawfully be retained.
Vocabulary selections, learning activity, statistics and other service records may remain after account deletion once they have been irreversibly anonymised or otherwise cease to constitute personal data.
North Tone Media may retain and use non-personal, aggregated and irreversibly anonymised service data.
Nothing in this section removes any statutory right a user may have to receive content that the user has personally provided or created through the service.
Where applicable law requires us, following termination or rescission of a digital-service contract, to make eligible user-provided or user-created content available to the user, we will do so without charge, within a reasonable time and in a commonly used machine-readable format.
Applicable law may permit us to retain content or service data that:
- has no use outside the Say it in Swedish service;
- relates solely to the user's activity while using the service;
- has been combined with other data in a way that cannot reasonably be separated; or
- falls within another statutory exception.
Personal-data access and portability rights are governed separately by applicable data-protection law and our Privacy Policy.
12. Comments, member content and conduct
Some parts of Say it in Swedish allow users to create display names, post comments or otherwise make information visible to other signed-in users.
Content visible only to members remains subject to these rules.
You may not publish or communicate content that is:
- unlawful;
- threatening, harassing, abusive or intimidating;
- hateful or discriminatory;
- defamatory;
- sexually explicit, sexually harassing or otherwise inappropriate;
- violent or encouraging violence or harm;
- fraudulent or deceptive;
- impersonating another person;
- invasive of another person's privacy;
- disclosing another person's personal information without permission;
- infringing another person's intellectual-property or other rights;
- spam, advertising or unauthorised commercial promotion; or
- otherwise seriously disruptive, malicious or harmful to Say it in Swedish, its users or third parties.
Display names and other information visible to signed-in users are subject to the same standards.
You remain responsible for content that you submit and must have the necessary rights to submit it.
You retain any intellectual-property rights that applicable law gives you in original content you create.
By submitting content, you grant North Tone Media a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, reproduce, display, moderate and otherwise use that content to the extent reasonably necessary to operate the service.
Unless the content is deleted or applicable law requires its removal, this licence continues to the extent reasonably necessary to retain an existing discussion after the user's account is deleted. Attribution may then be removed or anonymised.
Reporting illegal or prohibited content
Content believed to be illegal or in violation of these Terms may be reported to hej@sayitinswedish.com.
A report should, where possible, include:
- a sufficiently detailed explanation of why the content is believed to be illegal or prohibited;
- information that allows us to identify the specific content, such as the page, discussion, comment or user involved;
- the reporter's name and email address where required; and
- confirmation that the report is made in good faith and that the information supplied is accurate to the reporter's knowledge.
Where contact details are provided, we will acknowledge reports and communicate our decision where required by applicable law.
We may use human review and technical or automated tools to identify spam, abuse, security threats or other violations. Where applicable law requires disclosure about automated moderation, we will provide that information.
If we restrict or remove member content, restrict an account or terminate an account because content is illegal or violates these Terms, we will provide the affected user with a clear explanation of the action and reason where required by law.
Depending on the nature, severity and frequency of a violation, we may:
- remove or restrict content;
- issue a warning;
- restrict commenting or other individual features;
- temporarily suspend an account; or
- terminate the account.
13. Artificial-intelligence features
Some Say it in Swedish features use artificial intelligence or automated systems.
These may include AI-generated comments, feedback, exercises, dialogues and other language-learning assistance. Additional AI-supported features may be introduced over time.
Where a user interacts directly with an AI-powered system, the service will identify the interaction as involving AI where required by applicable law and unless that fact is already obvious from the circumstances.
AI-generated material may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, inappropriate or contextually incorrect.
AI output should therefore be treated as learning assistance and not as an authoritative linguistic assessment.
We do not guarantee that AI-generated corrections, translations, examples, explanations, dialogues, comments or feedback are accurate or complete.
Users remain responsible for deciding how to use and rely on AI-generated information.
AI-powered features may be subject to reasonable usage limits, rate limits or other technical limits intended to maintain availability, prevent abuse and manage the operation of the service. Any material change to a paid service remains subject to Section 8.
AI features may depend on third-party technology providers. Personal-data processing associated with those providers is described in our Privacy Policy.
The restrictions in Sections 9 and 10 apply equally to content delivered through AI-powered features.
14. Suspension and termination for misuse
We may restrict, suspend or terminate an account where we reasonably believe that a user has:
- materially or repeatedly violated these Terms;
- shared an account or paid access;
- scraped, copied, harvested or systematically extracted content or data;
- used unauthorised automated systems;
- circumvented or attempted to circumvent access restrictions or technical protections;
- used Say it in Swedish content for prohibited AI, machine-learning, dataset or other purposes;
- deliberately abused free trials;
- committed fraud or abusive payment activity;
- interfered with the security or operation of the service;
- published prohibited member content;
- harassed, threatened or abused other users or North Tone Media; or
- attempted, assisted or encouraged any of the above.
The good-faith exercise of a statutory withdrawal right, complaint, refund request, payment dispute or other consumer right is not itself misuse.
Where appropriate, we will use a proportionate measure rather than terminating the entire account.
Serious, malicious, fraudulent or clearly unlawful conduct may result in immediate suspension or termination.
If an account is terminated because of a breach, access may end immediately.
Any refund, repayment, compensation or retention of prepaid amounts following termination will be determined in accordance with applicable law and the applicable Merchant of Record terms. Nothing in this section imposes a penalty or removes a mandatory consumer right.
15. Account deletion
Users may request deletion of their Say it in Swedish account.
An active paid subscription must first be cancelled before the associated account can be permanently deleted.
Where necessary, the user will be directed to the subscription-management facility provided in connection with the purchase before deletion is completed.
Cancelling renewal does not normally immediately end a paid membership period that has already begun.
If a user chooses to permanently delete the Say it in Swedish account before an already-paid access period expires, access to the service may end upon deletion.
Account deletion does not itself create an additional contractual right to a refund for voluntarily unused time. Statutory consumer rights and applicable Merchant of Record rights remain unaffected.
Handling of personal information, member content and retained anonymised service data after deletion is described in Sections 11 and 12 and in our Privacy Policy.
16. Educational purpose, accuracy and learning outcomes
Say it in Swedish is an educational language-learning service.
We aim to provide accurate, useful and up-to-date educational material. Swedish, like other languages, includes regional variation, changing usage, differing registers and matters on which linguistic descriptions or interpretations may differ.
Content may occasionally contain an error, omission or outdated information.
AI-generated material is subject to the additional limitations described in Section 13.
Say it in Swedish does not guarantee:
- any particular level of fluency;
- examination or course results;
- employment results;
- immigration or residency outcomes; or
- any other specific personal result.
The service is intended for language education and does not provide legal, immigration, financial, medical or other professional advice.
17. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or reduces liability or consumer remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or reduced.
For consumers, North Tone Media's responsibility for delay, non-conformity, defects, failure to supply the digital service and resulting loss is governed by applicable mandatory consumer law.
North Tone Media does not assume responsibility beyond what is required by applicable law for consequences arising from:
- use of educational material for purposes outside ordinary language learning;
- decisions in areas for which the service does not provide professional advice;
- circumstances outside our reasonable control; or
- failures caused entirely by equipment, software, internet access or services controlled by the user.
This section does not limit the statutory remedies described in Section 7.
For a user acting primarily in the course of a business, school or organisation rather than as a consumer, to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- North Tone Media is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of business or loss of opportunity; and
- North Tone Media's total aggregate liability arising from the Say it in Swedish service will not exceed the amount paid for the relevant membership during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary because of changes to:
- the service;
- our business or corporate structure;
- technology;
- security requirements;
- applicable law or regulatory requirements; or
- third-party services used by Say it in Swedish.
The current version will be available on the Say it in Swedish website and will state when it was last updated.
We may retain previous versions where reasonably necessary to establish which terms applied at an earlier time.
Changes that do not materially disadvantage users may take effect when published.
Where a change materially affects an existing paid membership or a user's legal rights, we will provide advance notice where required and the change will take effect only as permitted by applicable law.
Changes required immediately for legal, security or regulatory reasons may take effect without advance notice where permitted by law.
Nothing in this section removes a right to cancel, terminate or obtain another remedy that applicable mandatory law gives the user because of a change.
19. Notices and communications
Users must maintain a current email address on their account.
We may send contractual and service-related notices to the email address registered to the account or, where appropriate, display them prominently within the service.
Notices concerning purchases, billing, subscriptions and renewals may be provided by the Merchant of Record.
Where applicable law requires information to be supplied on a durable medium, an appropriate durable format such as email will be used.
20. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and the Say it in Swedish service are governed by the laws of Sweden.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory protections that apply under the law of your country of habitual residence.
Consumers may bring proceedings before any court having jurisdiction under applicable consumer-law rules.
We encourage users to contact hej@sayitinswedish.com first so that we have an opportunity to resolve a complaint.
If we reject a consumer complaint in whole or in part, we will provide information about an applicable approved alternative dispute-resolution body and whether we intend to participate in the procedure, where required by law.
Swedish consumers may, where the dispute falls within its jurisdiction and applicable thresholds and procedural requirements are met, submit a complaint to:
Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN)
Box 174
101 23 Stockholm
Sweden
www.arn.se
Nothing in these Terms restricts a consumer's right to use an available dispute-resolution mechanism or legal remedy.
21. Transfer of the business
North Tone Media may transfer its rights and obligations under these Terms as part of a reorganisation, change of legal form, sale of the business or transfer of the Say it in Swedish service, provided that this is permitted by applicable law.
Such a transfer will not reduce mandatory consumer rights.
Where a transfer materially affects an existing user or requires notice or consent under applicable law, the required notice or consent will be provided or obtained.
22. General provisions
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
If we do not immediately enforce a provision, that does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Sections concerning permitted use, intellectual property, retained service data, member-content licences, liability and dispute resolution continue to apply after termination to the extent necessary for their purpose and permitted by law.
These Terms do not limit any right that cannot legally be waived.
