I'm a native Swede from Stockholm, and I'm the person behind Say it in Swedish. Since 2010, my goal has been to spread the knowledge of natural, everyday Swedish — how Swedes really speak.
Why I built this
I've always been fascinated by my own language. Back in the late 2000s, while exploring Germany, I got curious: how do Germans actually learn Swedish? So I went to a bookstore and flipped through a few textbooks. And I got confused. We don't talk like that!
Beyond the old-fashioned or flat-out wrong expressions, the books were riddled with spelling errors too. So I decided to teach Swedish online myself, from my own perspective. That's how ichmagelche.eu was born, a blog with articles for beginners.
In 2010, that blog turned into a podcast, Say it in Swedish, with its own website, first in German, then in English, plus a YouTube channel and social media. The goal was always the same: show how Swedes actually talk in everyday life.
There's no single source of truth.
Explore everything Say it in Swedish has to offer — the podcast, the lessons, the videos, all of it. But don't stop there. Real fluency comes from opening your ears to other Swedes too: other teachers, other swefluencers, and other native speakers from other areas. Every source teaches you something a little different.
