The Imperative Mood
What is the imperative?
The imperative mood, or imperativ, is the verb form used when telling someone to do something.
Kom hit!Come here!
Vänta här!Wait here!
In Swedish, the imperative consists of the verb stem without an extra ending and normally comes first in a sentence. The person being spoken to is inferred from context, so Swedish does not include du or ni.
For particularly forceful commands, the present tense can be used instead. The verb is then usually preceded by nu.
Nu kommer du hit!You come here right now!
Nu går du.You leave now.
